front porch + cajun party gone wild.
...this one was for the books y'all.
it all started when bee-man got a hankering for cajun food; like the real kind. the kind where he makes the broth from scratch, the roux simmers for hours, nothing pre-made, everything thought out.
recipe planning, grocery shoppin and cooking
some text messages were sent with the simple message of sorts:
...bee's cookin a cajun feast, BYOG (guitar)alex and bee kept busy in the kitchen. then everything was left to sit and simmer.
for hours.
then bee hosted a trip to the
but our lil trip resulted in
a brand new set of strangs & tuner for my gitfiddle
a kazoo, percussion eggs, and a triangle. {cause every good cajun band has a triangle, or so i hear}
friends trickled in and when you opened the door, you could smell the
goodness friends trickled in and when you opened the door, you could smell the
goin on at the stove
wish i coulda bottled it up.
dinner was served at late-thrity, as usual
indulging ourselves in homemade gumbo, jambalaya and etouffee.
oh my stars.
it was unbelievably good.
so friends kept coming in and the instruments multiplied...we had guitars galore, a stand up bass, tambourines, a train whistle, harmonicas, a banjukitar....you get the idea?

i don't know what else to say but show the pictures of what a front porch looks like in music city:
multiple songwriters and singer friends; but on our porch everyone's a musician in their own right
we sang old songs, classic songs, 90's country
listened to originals and sang a long.
at one point i think there were around 30 people playing, dancing and singing.
magic y'all.
we had three different groups of strangers walk up with a case of beer in their hands and say:
"we just walked by (or were having dinner at mafiaozas) and y'all look like your having a great time. do you mind if we hang and share our beer?"
we said "of course!", shook a hand, introduced everyone among the singin and strumming and they joined right in. not sure we'll ever see them again.
or again between now and the next tuesday night front porch jamboree.
but this is what friendship and a good time
is all about.
gatherin'
...over food and music
and the simplicity of it all.
...gatherin'
a lost art, we're bringin back
one front porch sittin
at a time.
