the planted feet blues.

i sold my car last week.
and i don't have a new one.
spending my days bummin' and thumbin'.
yet, i haven't been able to get a
road trip
off my mind and out of my thoughts,
consistently
for quite some time now.

ironic, much?

RT3

but there is an itch. a pang. and flutter deep down.
i need to go.
i need to ride.
i need to roll down the windows. even if it's negative degrees.
...to drink gas station coffee and eat chex mix.
...to crank up the music, random fm surfing and intentional ipod mixes.

and i had one planned this weekend.
to asheville, north carolina.
it's been in the works for several weeks
i can't think of a more perfect time to take in the mountains, that artsy fartsy town
and really good company.

RT2

but i ain't got no wheels.
a rental car has been discussed
but the sense of responsibility, the knowledge of what's rational
has eased through my conscious, convinced my head
...still battling my heart.

so i guess i'll keep my feet planted here for a few more days, at least
and remain thankful for even the opportunity i have to take advantage of the
open road
at most any time.
it's amazing to literally feel the yearn for the adventure,
to be influenced by its strong pull
...one i haven't felt in some time.

RT1

al and i are headin to appalach
with the sea hags next week
so maybe i'll make that familiar trip
and little less rote,
and little more free,
complete with sun roof freeze outs, peanut butter m&m's & truck stop treasures
...even if we're mainly rollin through ole' alabam.
