i feel like my last post made it sound like our life is nothing but sunshine and fairies.
and that couldn't be farther from the truth.
i want to make that clear.
and i want to explain.
we have had a rough few months.
our hearts are heavy, a lot on our minds.
family issues, life problems, drama, tragedy and uncertainty.
that's the truth. it's consumed much of our time and our emotions.
it's unfortunate. and unfortunately normal.
this is one of my major issues with the ole blogosphere and other social networks. the choice of depiction; what we choose to write about and the pictures we choose to post usually portray....ultimate joy and bliss.
and that makes perfect sense.
who wants to write and relive the trouble going on in our lives? and who are we to think that anyone wants to read about them, to boot?
our time in apalachicola i am extremely grateful for; that we have a flexible lifestyle that allows this indulgence. grateful for the wonderful people to share it with. words cannot express how much i appreciate it all. it was joyous. it was fantastic. each of my words describing our time there are nothing but truth and a valid depiction of those two weeks. that's what i wanted that post to portray and reflect. that truth.
not necessarily the truth about how the timing of that trip was literally a life and sanity saver for many of us. that the timing of that trip may be remembered as much for the wonderful time as well as associating it with some hard times.
using these platforms to escape from the weight on our hearts, if only through five hundred words and four happy pictures, is worth it...in the moment and for memories sake. but i want to try my best to keep it real and keep it honest. i certainly never have and don't plan on divulging the ugliest of the ugly in my life, but i felt a great pang on my spirit after proofing the last post.
forget the sunshine and fairies, the lollipops and butterflies.
it's more like
partly cloudy with a chance of what now?

this post makes me sad :-( i don't think there could be a more honest and clear picture of the gift you and Collin gave your friends, sharing those weekends. Our lives aren't perfect and happy all the time, but it WAS perfect and happy all the time that weekend, and you shared that feeling and those memories, and somehow, amazingly, i think you were able to capture it for every person that came through apalacha. I know i couldn't have possibly wrote my feelings of the weekend any better.
