all over the place.

its fall here and i hope this weather never stops.
it's perfect in every way, minus a million needed raindrops.
if only it would last til spring....
we were worried that we may not get our treasured dose of the most gorgeous colored leaves
you've ever seen.
colors that are their own, aren't found in a crayon box or on a paint swatch and can never be duplicated.
fearing that the dreadfully dry weather would keep them from changing...
...hoping that if anything good came of the devastating 100 year flood in May, that maybe our trees would be
waterlogged. a funny thought, but true.
it makes my 7am exercise a little easier and little more encouraging, breathing in that early morning chill in my lungs,
i love hearing that crunch under my running shoes.
it makes working during the day on my computer, outside, in between a couple chapters of my book and a quick snooze,
the most peaceful part of the day.
it makes having to put on boots and a sweater to go out at night, kinda festive and fun.

been doin lots of porch sitting and lots of football watchin. this household survived the bama lost. kinda; barely.
the georgia bulldogs are strugglin and it's a shrug your shoulders kind of season....those hounds tooth rolling tide elephants are hangin in there with high hopes. it's all been fun to watch.
hunting season has arrived, the camo's come out. twice a week trips to bass pro shop have ensued.
as much as i make fun of it, i rarely miss a trip. i really kinda love that place.
and you'd laugh if you see what i come back with in my buggy when collin's off doin his thing for an hour. {i end up having to put 99.7% of it back, due to ridiculousness}
however, the one aisle i can't go down is the "scent" aisle.
you hunters know what i'm talking about.
"scent" and "enticing aromas" are the nice way to put it...but in a nutshell it's an aisle full of doe urine.
blech......gag.....gross. with product names like "C'mere Deer".
ridiculous.

spent a day planting pansies and mums, digging up old stuff, planting the new.
i love how it looks,
but not as much as i love diggin in the dirt.
i kinda use it as a stress reliever too. that, trimming the bushes
and my favorite: taking the glass to the recycling center.
by myself, throwing in one bottle, one jar at a time.
sounds like i'm a freak huh?
try it and thank me later.
it's much cheaper than a therapist
and you probably need an excuse to start recycling anyway ;)

i've had an exciting, productive and proud work load this fall.
it's funny how you don't think you need that kind of fulfillment,
that work satisfaction
but you do. I do, at least. i'm realizing how vital it is to me. and my confidence.
well, real work and painting. crafting. creating.
it's a different kind of fulfillment, but it is energy for me.

wedding season it also is, and we're gearing up for a wonderful one next week in Atlanta.
well wedding season and first birthday season. four of my best friends
had babies within a month of each other last year.
so our fridge has made the transition:
from birth announcements to first birthday party invitations
it's been such a fun year, watchin those nuggets grow...
...and watching my best girlfriends turn into better people;
mothers
some of the best people, i never could have imagined or grasped or
dreamed they'd be.

ever had a spontaneous wednesday that filled you up? over the brim?
that was yesterday for me. and sarah and charlsie.
a little ole Wednesday that went from a lunch date with two girfriends and one sweet, mischievous baby boy.
...at one of the cutest restaurants around with celery blue cheese soup(!) and the most sinful tiramisu...
that led to a bookstore, birthday-surprise swing through the mall followed by an impromptu stop by the bridal store to see
charlsie in her wedding dress...veil and all. beautiful and perfect.
then a walk to the cars, saying: "wait, we don't want this to end"...
which turned into 6+ hours on my front porch. wine spritzers, some g-i-r-l talk, a snoozing baby, snacks,
confessions and blackmail pictures.
the boys showed up and tried to steal the show. jealous and confused that we'd really spent all day together.
but that was kind of the best part...
our little secret.
our day that was one of the best in a while. that i needed more than anything,
more than i knew.

collin and i have been playing a lot of yahtzee.
yes, yahtzee.
we'll start playing right after we eat dinner and into the wee hours of the morning.
its so.much.fun. and most popular among geriatrics and not twenty-somethings
we're both ridiculously competitive and he keeps beating the brakes off of me
and i don't know why.
i shake that little cup the same way he does.
but this battle ain't over. no sir ree.

and in a couple few hours...i get to see my mama. get to go home. to the farm,
to the first annual "frolona fest"
{Frolona (fruh-low-nuh) is the name of our lil farming community and the road we live on}
a bluegrass, old-time music pickin festival my brother is hosting on our farm.
camping, bonfires, strangers soon to be friends.
good, raw, honest music.
i probably won't camp. but i'm gonna take a lot of pictures. and play with our newest farm pup and take a mule ride with my mom. I get to hug pallie's neck then argue like we were 12.  i'm gonna try and do something crafty and i already don't want the weekend to end.
being at our house. our home. able see them smile and know everything's going to be
ok.
my heart could use that right now. refreshment.
hoping to breathe a little.

I am soooo excited! Can't wait til you and P get here. Mule rides with you are always exciting....to say the least. And yes, everything's gonna be okay. Breathe in, breathe out, move on.
