so that one day of blogging was it, sorry! we were literally in an RV or gettin into somethin special, likely hilarious, or rumbling through the desert for the next seven days straight and had no internet access (which was kinda awesome, honestly).
I'm going to try to update in a "day by day" fashion as there is so much to tell....
but I literally feel like I've been hit by a truck {in a really good way}, so it may take me a few days.
hope you enjoy the ride....

June 21, 2011, Golden (&) Morrison, CO
we woke up at Dakota Ridge Campground, took the best shower of the trip
(we didn't know how spoiled we really were that first day),
ate breakfast with Drake and his crew then prepared for our day
at the Red Rocks.
we set up our own little picnic and wandered for about 3 hours or so before the show.
this place is amazing.
the sky could not have been bluer, the grass was green, the rocks so vibrant....
it was darn near perfect.
we blared music from the RV hung out with random friends
and strangers, too.
we got inside the amphitheater and it was truly
breathtaking.
nobody could really believe it, or especially believe that drake was getting to
play there.
his set was fantastic, he walked out to an old Johnny Russell tune that Alex and I
Lindsay took some of the most ridiculous video during the brantley gilbert concert.
we still can't watch the whole thing without busting a gut.
I'll have to see if I can post it. It really would be the thing that sent this whole ordeal to
reality tv stardom.

we went backstage to watch the rest of the big shows (randy houser, jamey johnson)
and decided to take in the willie show from the stands as we watched
the big colorado sky set...
not much more to say than: Amen.

so we could drive the early morning shift to get us closer to arizona by sun-up
(the grand canyon was our destination; approx. 12 hours).
we hardly slept and joined the party at the "barbeque". (part of drake's duty on tour is to cookout each night for the entire crew, all artists, production folks etc, after the show.)
we made fast friends (duh) with several folks
and got to hang out with our music friends on tour from
nashville.
we had our own "Geronimo" bus call at about 1:30am
and hit the road.
the first hour of the drive was straight down a mountain. we made a few pit stops to get situated and hit the road.
then about 2 hours into the trip Drake's tour bus (driven by his dad, Mr. David) passed us and we followed behind them most of the way down the mountain.
long story short, his brakes went out and eventually a fire started under the bus.
we safely got off the mountain
and at 3am, it took our fire extinguisher and theirs and several bottles of water to
put the fire out.
they were literally minutes away from the thing blowing up.
it was awful. and scary.
and lucky no one was hurt.
needless to say, both buses spent the night (or next 4 hours) in a BP Gas Station parking lot.
Crazy.
But we were up and at em' bright and early
we hit the road once they had figured things out and made
a new plan.
So off we went. We were headed to the big hole in the ground in northern Arizona...
